I have over two decades of experience navigating the challenges that come with living with and parenting to chronic illness which led to creating the Embracing our Imperfections course!
Throughout my medical journey I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge and experience from interacting with countless medical specialists and have distilled this knowledge into a short but comprehensive course that provides you with the most vital life skills necessary to help you live a fulfilling life despite your illness.
Through the Embracing our Imperfections course, you will learn how to navigate the complexities of life with illness and acquire skills to help you develop a positive mindset. We do this by learning about how our bodies respond to chronic pain and illness, how we make decisions, how we find peace with the overlapping disorders, acceptance, personal growth and who we want to be outside of our illness.
The format of this course is a combination of short introductory videos, short lesson plans and reflection worksheets. I understand that managing a chronic illness can be challenging, which is why I’ve designed this course to be self-paced so that you can learn and grow when it is most convenient for you.

Online Course – Self Paced
Includes 4 self-paced modules with twelve lessons total. Each module has a brief video introduction, and each lesson includes a self-reflection worksheet that I highly encourage all participants to do.
As my daughter best put it at age fifteen, “most of us living with a chronic illness must learn how to manage financial stress, accepting change, planning, managing appointments, social isolation, learning medical terminology and navigating the healthcare system. These aren’t even the symptoms of your illness!”
Module 1
Lesson 1 – The journey to getting an accurate diagnosis. Understanding our brain as it relates to chronic pain and illness.
Learning to be our own best advocate. Most living with chronic and/or rare disorders have to go through a myriad of appointments, procedures, tests and doctors before they get an accurate diagnosis. This takes patience, self-advocacy and great doctors. Whether you have been through this journey already or are in the process of getting an accurate diagnosis, this course will provide encouragement and remind you that you are not alone.
You will learn about your brain and autonomic nervous system. I will teach you the basics of how the stress of an illness and/or living with chronic pain can change your brain and the way our autonomic nervous system functions.
Lesson 2: Decision making with chronic illness and how to move forward.
Here you will learn how to best make decisions going forward that support your health, both physically and mentally.
Lesson 3: Overlapping disorders and how to find peace during the midst of it all.
Most of us have them, what are they, why do they overlap and how do we manage when it all seems too much.
Lesson 4: Accepting the diagnosis.
Here we will discuss the stages of acceptance and the emotions that come with this process. You will learn how to acquire the art of acceptance and how to handle these emotions as they come.

Lesson 2: Managing the endless doctor appointments and related stress.
Lesson 3: How do we adapt to receiving bad news and the affects our illness has on family, friends, and work
Module 3
